"Lamjung" is known as the "gateway of Manang"-'the district beyond himal'

 It is rich in culture heritages.bio diversity and natural beauty

 lamjung is an abode for different ponds,rivers,waterfalls,forests, and Gurung culture

Lamjung is an ancestral land of indigenous Gurung communities, who have historical, traditional and cultural attachment with their land, forest and water resources. Lamjung is inhabited by indigenous communities of Gurung, Tamang, Magar, Newar, Hyolmo, Dura, Bhujel, Chepang and Kumal. Indigenous peoples occupy more than 70 % of the total population of Lamjung district. A week long indigenous peoples’ grand cultural festival started at Beshi-shahar in Lamjung on 9 Feb. 2011. Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), District Coordination Council (DCC), Lamjung is the main organizer of the festival. This is the first time in the history of Nepal that indigenous peoples have become the main organizer of the district level grand festival

How do we celebrate Tamu Losar

Losar is the time when family members of all generations get together and exchange love and greetings.Tamu is another name of Gurung community of Nepal and Losar means New Year. Tamu Losar is celebration of Gurung’s New Year. The Tamu Losar marks the beginning of the Tamu Sambat or Gurung Calendar Year.

Losar is celebrated in Tundikhel ground at the city center vibrant with colorful stalls and people flooding inside on Poush 15 under Nepali Bikaram Sambat Calendar. Poush 15 marks the end of winter and start of spring that also brings warmness and charm to Tamu Losar.

Gurungs all across the world celebrate Tamu Losar by organizing rallies in traditional attires and cultural programs. They also visit Buddhist shrines on that day. The days in Losar and the events are the opportunities to Nepal traveler to witness cultural heritages of the Gurung community.
